Yvonne T. Young, Founder

Yvonne T. Young  was born in the West Indies on the beautiful island of Kingston, Jamaica. . Her parents: The late Audrey S. Smith Campbell and the late Ukley A. Young were responsible for  nurturing her love of becoming a business owner because they owned   a  grocery shop and a Bar/Lounge. Yvonne's step dad,  the late Lloyd A. "Tailor" Campbell,  also  owned a  tailor shop and he  taught her  about the "business" aspect of owning your own establishment.   Her maternal grandmother , the late Mable Smith, who was originally from Jamaica, West Indies  (JWI) and her paternal grandfather , the late  Fook Young, who was originally  from Hong Kong , China were both very inspirational in  her upbringing.  Yvonne  started her education at Miss Allen Prep School then she went  to Rousseau Primary School (Elementary) and then continued her education at Norman Manley Secondary (High) School in the heart of Kingston 13 JWI.   Yvonne migrated to the USA in 1979 and finished  her schooling at  Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn , New York . She graduated in 1980 and moved on to Hunter College (CUNY) to further her higher education. Yvonne graduated in 1986 with a BS degree in Home Economics (Nutrition & Food Science) in New York, New York.

Yvonne started her company, WHY Consulting Group, LLC in 2011 and Incorporated WHY NOT TASTE (food service- See Food Menu on this site) in November 2019. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, WHY NOT TASTE is now doing delivery with Oma Eats and in conjunction with The Natural Fountain Juices, owner Michael  G. Williams.

Yvonne started working behind the scenes with radio personalities  at WLIB 1190 AM radio;DJ Yonnie and Dylan (The Punch Crew),
Bob " Spice Man "Fredericks , Ian "The Goose" Eligon. and Carl "Jamacian Bouncing Baby Boy" Anthony. Later on Yvonne added  WVIP 93.5 FM radio to her work endeavors as an  Asst. Producer for Culture Jam radio program in  conjunction with co hosts , Jeff Sarge and Bobby Channel  1 .   In addition, she also worked /a liason with other  staff members such as,  Tony Cobb, Mishiboo, Francine Chin, Avril Francis, Aljam , Dance Master and others such a Pat Mc Kay and DJ Gringo from Satellite Radio.

Yvonne also worked with Neville " Tinga "Stewart as his Publicist/Manager for over 12 yrs. She began to get more in depth with music management and produced  three of his Cds, Ready to Groove, Tinga Archives and  Cover Me Cd reproduction.  She guided and counseled  Tinga with his diabetes while he was on road tours and throughout his concerts around the USA and abroad. While working with Tinga, Yvonne added  assistance of mastering ,sales, production of his music and she also worked with  his son, Michael " Finga" Stewart with record distribution. Yvonne met  Tinga's brother, the late Roman " The King of Specials" Stewart and continued to learn more in depth about the  music business.  Yvonne enjoyed incorporating her nutrition knowledge with her experiences she was learning from being on the road. It was during these  times, she associated and went on tour with Kevin "Sanchez" Jackson, Michael "Flourgon" May (also known for the song, Me Run Things -  (The Frenzy Tour was a great and knowledgeable road experience for Yvonne) and added entertainers such as Glen Washington, Freddie McGreggor and host of other international reggae artists were a part of her road trips/tours .  Ed Robinson and E2 Studio  and Michelle Arthurton  also taught Yvonne about the ins and outs of  how to maneuver around the recording studio and network with other artists.  In that midst were Michael "Mac Daddy" Jarret in New York .
Yvonne counseled ,  The late Frankie Paul, The late Jackie Brown, The Melodians (all deceased now) and a  host of others who she guided  their nutritional needs, and counseling on  the road for their tours/concerts.  IRAWMA-International Reggae and World Music Award show was added to her work assignment and  Yvonne was in charge of  all the back stage events, sales, artists liaison, meals issuance and planning for this world wide event in New York.

She worked with Mighty Sparrow,  Manager for the group ,Yardmen College, and now the solo artist, Rodney "Julius Judah" Julius (originally from Trinidad and Tobago), and Benny Bwoy “The Original Jewmaican Dance Hall Reggae artist". Yvonne has participated with the production of many Reggae concerts and events in NYC, Jamaica, Florida, and other states across the country. Sometimes she does freelance writing (recipes/nutrition facts/entertainment) for the “Daily Challenge”, which is a newspaper out of Brooklyn, NY.

Yvonne presently resides in Long Island, New York. She and her family are active members of Lutheran Church of Elmont, located in Elmont, New York. She has been on the Board of Council at Lutheran Church of Elmont for more than 20 years. She is also the Coordinator for the Church’s Community Meal Program aka “Soup Kitchen” for the more than 20 years - the program serves free meals to anyone from the surrounding communities who needs it. Yvonne cooks for this project numerous Saturdays and for fellowship after church on Sundays. This is another way that she makes valuable contributions to the communities that she loves and serves. Yvonne also participates with the distribution of food produce and assorted healthy slice breads to the community on a weekly basis depending on supplier availability.  WHY Consulting Group is in collaboration and working with JP Runway Cafe, (JFK AIRPORT BUILDING 14) www.jprunwaycafe.com, to do nutrition analysis for meals.

In addition, WHY Consulting Group, LLC has developed nutritional programs geared towards minority children focused on decreasing childhood obesity, an issue plaguing communities of color across the country.  WHY Consulting Group, LLC is successfully making strides in empowering adults and kids to get in the kitchen through dietary changes and exciting culinary experiences.
